The Process
-
Please reach out using the form below with the details of what you need and want out of the shoot. The most important information is what needs to be photographed, along with when & where.
-
I’ll get back to you ASAP so we can discuss details: pricing, equipment, location, specific needs etc… The cost of the shoot is generally going to go by the number of rolls needed, and which film we’re using. We’ll work together to pick the best set up for what you need.
-
This is the fun bit. We’ll meet on location and get shooting. When we’re finished I’ll take the film to be lab developed, before I scan and edit them as needed. You’ll get digital copies of your photos a few days later.

A roll of 35mm film can take 36 shots, and often I will take a photo two or three times to make sure I’m getting the best out of the film (this is called bracketing), but sometimes a picture just doesn’t work as intended. So assuming nothing goes horribly wrong, you can expect about 15 photos per roll.
For medium format, a roll can take 12 shots. I tend to bracket less with medium format but I will usually get no more than 8 photos from a roll, often fewer.

Anywhere you like! But we can’t do full shoots on private property you don’t own (like in a cafe or a gallery). I prefer to shoot outdoors for lighting, and for more interesting locations. In cities we can do ‘walking shoots’ where we shoot in a number of locations, we can shoot in the countryside, parks, anywhere
For outdoor shoots sometimes weather is just not on our side, and we’re forced to reschedule but all weather presents an opportunity for great photos.

I charge a base fee of £75, and then per roll after that. Different films vary significantly in price and I charge double the cost of the film. The extra covers the cost of developing, scanning, and editing.
If there is a significant distance for me to travel to the shoot, I may charge an additional fee but this will be discussed upfront.
-
I operate on a work for payment basis, so if you’ve paid me and for any reason I cancel you will be given a full refund.
If you need to cancel and it is more than a week before the shoot you will get a full refund. If it is less than a week the refund will be less the cost of the film.
If a roll is damaged and the photos lost, you will be refunded the full amount you paid for the roll, and my basic fee.

As the photographer, the images are my intellectual property, but you have exclusive rights to the photos we take in a shoot, to be used however you wish. The only addendum to this is I can use the photos in my portfolio. I will never sell them, nor use them for artwork without your express permission.
-
The negatives are my proof that I took the photos, and so are important for maintaining intellectual ownership, and letting me improve my portfolio. So losing the negatives is a serious compromise. Because of this I charge £100 for a roll of negatives.
